Our Story
When my dear friend Samina’s daughter, Franny, got her first period, I wanted to get her a gift to honor this momentous occasion – her body's literal rite of passage into womanhood. This occasion should be celebrated!
I wanted to get her an oracle deck specifically for young girls going through this rite of passage into womanhood, to help them tap into their own body and its newly developing wisdom. I searched and searched, and if such a deck exists, I did not find it. But I couldn’t let this go. I got upset! Like "if I want something done, I have to do I myself” upset! It was exhilarating and frightening!
The universe sent me on a magical journey to an amazing designer, Astrid Mueller. We had our first zoom meeting and we were both in tears: me as I shared my mission and her emotionally responding to the call to join me.
She then asked me if I would consider exploring the possibility of creating a game.
A GAME? WHAT???
Hell yes, I would consider exploring a game!
It was at this point, I started to realize this was bigger than me.
Astrid introduced me to her friend Jean Berry – the game inventor mentor. And here we are today.
I tell you all of this because what started out as one thing has evolved into something much bigger and more impactful than I could have ever imagined.
What started as a gift idea to celebrate the rite of passage into womanhood has become an all encompassing women’s empowerment experience, opening dialog about the many facets of being a woman that are currently kept silent due to programmed shame.
“Women are under attack”
Jean Berry, Astrid Mueller and I wrote that line a year ago. It is the opening story line of our new game Time Periods.
But it isn't a story. It is really happening.
THE STORY OF THE CARD GAME:
"Women are under attack. They are unable to step into the roles that they are not only capable of, but designed to complete; creating an imbalance in the universe that is causing the world to wobble.
A group of physicists discover a time traveling portal to stop the wobble. They find they are flung into a woman's life in history to support her in meeting her challenges and destiny. But she needs their help. They must help her in getting the inner strengths and skills that she needs to meet her destiny before the time portal closes and flings them back to this time, forever leaving the She-Ro unfulfilled and missing her moment to stop the world's destructive wobble."
I HAVE A VISION…
I believe that every woman has a right to her own voice, to her own body and how to express it, to be celebrated and to love every inch of herself inside and out. Unfortunately, that is not every woman's reality. Yet.
I created my company Normalize the Period to empower women around the world.
The original idea was to create an oracle deck for young girls going through the rite of passage into womanhood to help them tap into their body and it's newly developing wisdom. What we created is that, and SO MUCH MORE!
…AND I HAVE A GAME.
I created a card game that is changing the conversation into one of empowerment around the world.
We created an all encompassing women's empowerment experience, promoting
fun
family time
connection with self
connection with other women and young girls
communication and expression
inner guidance
honoring women in history
oh, and math!
“What I love about the game is the ability to play from 1 person to 6 as well as having it be a conversation starter.”

Time Periods is also an Oracle Deck
Use the cards as an oracle deck for introspective and empowed messages for your life. See below for a sample reading.
WHY A GAME?
It's true, many feel uncertain of the future and if there is anything that can be done to help in these strange times... And now, with Roe v Wade overturned, there is a greater responsibility than ever to get this game into women and girl's lives.
An empowerment game (and oracle deck!) is the exact right offering to the world right now. For anyone who may feel helpless or unsure what they can do, they can be a game changer in women's empowerment - play this game, support this game, support this movement, support women.
THAT is why this game is so impactful. That is why you can make a difference in the world by playing this game.
